AVERAGE PSA USAGE

TV Access has computed the following statistics for average PSA usage for the last several years.

Television

For television we base our figures on Nielsen Sigma Annual Report of PSA Usage. Nielsen tracked over 5,000,000 PSA airings during 2007. These figures used the start date of January 1st of each year with the end date of December 31st of the same year.

Median Usage

In 2007, the median PSA was aired on 53 stations with 1,651 airings picked up by Nielsen. In 2006, the median PSA was aired on 61 stations with 1,721 airings picked up by Nielsen. In 2005, the median PSA was aired on 56 stations with 1,623 airings picked up by Nielsen.

Average Usage

In 2007, the average PSA was aired on 91 stations 5,713 times. In 2006, the average PSA was aired on 85 stations 5,202 times.
In 2005, the average PSA was aired on 79 stations 6,138 times.

Radio

For Radio we base our figures on campaigns tracked by TV Access. These results are based on 285 different campaigns from the beginning of 2006 until September 30, 2008. During 2006, TV Access tracked 68 radio campaigns. In 2007, we tracked 92 campaigns and already in 2008 we have tracked 90 campaigns.

Fiscal Year End Median Usage

In 2007, the median PSA was aired on 195 stations with 24,616 airings.
In 2006, the median PSA was aired on 182 stations with 27,048 airings

Average Usage

In 2007, the average PSA was aired on 203 stations 28,827 times.
In 2007, the average PSA was aired on 221 stations 31,972 times.

Program Year End

For campaigns that were in distribution at the end of September, 2008 or completed their distribution by September, 2008 we have the tabulated the following results:
